Majorca - The Windmills
Imagine writing your masterpiece in a windmill on a Mediterranean island, on a hill in sight of the sea . . . A solar-powered paradise, where the breeze brings the scent of hot pine and wild lavender, and the sound of sheep bells drifts up from the valley. Take your morning shower outdoors in hot rainwater. Share intense moments with new writing friends. Slip away for a siesta in a hammock under the pines, and write your second draft in the shade of a wild olive. Each evening sit and watch the sun sink into the western sea. Savour bursting figs, grilled fish, toasted almonds, local wine and olives; dive into a fresh persimmon. Watch geckos immobilised by anticipation, see the full moon rise over the palmitos, and dance to the music of the stars.
Life at the Windmills is simple and rustic. This is not a hotel. Guests are treated to delicious food prepared by a local cook, but are expected to help with the washing up. Since we depend on collected rainwater and solar power, participants must be conservation-minded. Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, 30 minutes by air from Barcelona. Regular scheduled and charter flights to Palma de Mallorca are obtainable from all major European cities. The Windmills is located half an hour from Palma airport.
